Executive accountability

Leadership establishes continuity objectives and resolves trade-offs between cost, risk and recovery capability.

Program owner

The continuity function coordinates methodology, assurance and improvement but does not own every business process.

Activity owner

Business owners validate impact, priority, resource needs and workable continuity strategies.

Support functions

IT, facilities, HR, procurement, communications, security and legal contribute specialized recovery capabilities.

Business continuity is organization-specific. Recovery priorities, legal duties, safety requirements, contracts, insurance terms and technical recovery methods should be validated by the responsible people in the organization.
