Continuity guide

Recovery strategies and sequencing

Recovery is easier when the organization knows which services should return first and which dependencies must be restored ahead of them.

Start from the business

Technology restoration order should be informed by priority activities, not simply by which system is easiest to restart.

Map prerequisites

Identity, networking, data, integrations and shared services may be prerequisites for several applications.

Define minimum viable service

A temporary reduced service can be more achievable than immediate full restoration.

Validate the chain

A technical component can recover successfully while the end-to-end business service remains unavailable.

Business continuity is organization-specific. Recovery priorities, legal duties, safety requirements, contracts, insurance terms and technical recovery methods should be validated by the responsible people in the organization.
