Continuity guide

Business continuity metrics that show capability, not paperwork

Good metrics reveal coverage, tested capability, unresolved gaps and program health rather than rewarding the number of documents produced.

MetricsKPI

Coverage

Examples include the percentage of priority activities with current BIA data or exercised plans.

Capability

Compare stated recovery targets with tested recovery results where appropriate.

Improvement

Track overdue corrective actions and recurring findings.

Avoid vanity metrics

A 100% plan completion rate says little if plans have not been exercised or dependencies are wrong.

Business continuity is organization-specific. Recovery priorities, legal duties, safety requirements, contracts, insurance terms and technical recovery methods should be validated by the responsible people in the organization.
