Critical does not mean important

Many activities are important; continuity priority depends on how quickly unacceptable impacts develop.

Minimum level

A reduced service may be acceptable temporarily if key obligations and customer needs are still met.

Dependencies define feasibility

A critical activity cannot recover faster than the people, information, suppliers and technology it truly requires.

Sequence matters

Upstream activities and shared services may need to recover before customer-facing work can resume.

Business continuity is organization-specific. Recovery priorities, legal duties, safety requirements, contracts, insurance terms and technical recovery methods should be validated by the responsible people in the organization.
