Ask about the activity

Focus on outputs, customers, deadlines and obligations rather than starting with system names.

Use time horizons

Ask what changes after hours, a day, several days or longer. This often reveals hidden deadlines and workarounds.

Challenge assumptions

If someone says an application is essential immediately, ask what cannot be done without it and what temporary alternatives exist.

Document uncertainty

Conflicting answers are useful evidence that ownership, definitions or process knowledge needs clarification.

Business continuity is organization-specific. Recovery priorities, legal duties, safety requirements, contracts, insurance terms and technical recovery methods should be validated by the responsible people in the organization.
